Member of the Loyalty to the Resistance Bloc, MP Hussein Haj Hassan, said that the crises that Lebanon has witnessed, especially since 2019, have had a direct impact on public institutions and services, noting that the decline in the value of the currency and the difficult economic conditions that citizens suffer from have led to an exacerbation of the financial and administrative problems facing these institutions. He stressed that the 2019 crisis imposed major challenges, especially with regard to debts, subscriptions, salaries and entitlements. During the inauguration of the “Bir al-Uzir” drinking water project in Shamstar, Haj Hassan warned of the collapse of the Bekaa Water Corporation if the situation continues as it is, stressing the need to address these problems seriously. He criticized the negotiations between Lebanon and Israel, considering that what happened after seven rounds did not provide anything for Lebanon, and that talking about a positive development is an attempt to beautify the non-existent results. He renewed his rejection of direct negotiations, considering that they have not yet led to tangible results, but rather have been accompanied by continued Israeli attacks and escalation. He warned that continuing the negotiating path without reviewing its feasibility may lead to making concessions under the influence of American and Israeli pressure, calling on Lebanese officials to listen to the warnings and advice given to them before entering into direct negotiations by Speaker of Parliament Nabih Berri, Walid Jumblatt, and Gebran Bassil.
